Social Media and the New Year

Do you have any social media resolutions for 2012?  You may want to consider making your Facebook account more private, using Twitter for professional networking, or posting to your blog more (cough, cough).

According to a recent post on Mashable, many people are determined to share less personal information on social media. Respondents also resolved to spend more time reading posts from friends and family instead of large groups of acquaintances (sound familiar?).

One website you may want to consider to help you stick to your resolutions is 43things.com.
43things is an online community of people who post a list of goals or a "bucket list" (43 things are not required) and post on their progress.  You can get tips and cheer on other users' triumphs.  43things lets you create a separate list for New Year's Resolutions.  You can also send yourself e-mail reminders for specific goals, and/or download the iPhone app.
